Magic Leap is holding its first public developer conference, called LEAP (“Learn, Engage, Accelerate, Program”) this week in Los Angeles.
The invitation-only event, referred to as “LeapCon” in social media, is geared toward “developers, creators, pioneers, and visionaries,” will be Oct. 9-10 2018 in Los Angeles.
Magic Leap’s first L.E.A.P. Conference — not in South Florida, where the company is headquartered.
Abovitz responded to questions on Monday that “Los Angeles is home to many of the world’s leading creators and developers and we wanted to pick a location that was easy to access for some of our west coast developers. Holding our first conference on the west coast helps us to start new conversations and relationships.”
But he added that “the South Florida community is very important to us,” and that further details on local activity and events by Magic Leap will be “will be announced in due course.”
There will be “a lot of surprises and cool stuff happening between now and LeapCon, and at LeapCon,” according to Magic Leap founder and CEO Rony Abovitz’s posts on the discussion site Reddit and news and networking site Twitter.
