Senior Vice President of Nickelodeon’s Entertainment Lab, Chris Young, is developing a series called Meet the Voxels, an original virtual and augmented reality kids show.
Meet the Voxels is an animated TV program that takes kids behind the scenes of a video game world which follows a family of video-game characters, the Voxels, on their adventures.
“Our vision is to take the real-time technology we’ve been exploring in the Lab and marry it with a creative concept that connects with kids and their passion for video games,” said Young. “We designed this next-gen animation workflow and filled it with characters who can exist naturally across multiple platforms from day one.”
The animated show is set in the world of video games. Nickelodeon is using a game engine, the software environment in which video, computer, and mobile games are created, to create the show. So, Meet the Voxels will be created using the same technology as actual games.
The Entertainment Lab is also the creator of SlimeZone, the network’s first social virtual reality experience.
