Argos, UK’s leading digital store, set to sell 100 LEGO toys that can be seen in augmented reality (AR) by the end of July 2018.
This new product to be released on the Argos iOS mobile app will let customers view an animated version of such models as LEGO Star Wars Kessel Run Millennium Falcon, the LEGO Disney Princess Sleeping Beauty Fairytale Castle and the LEGO Ninjago Movie Quake Mech just by pressing the “View in AR button”.
“As more and more of our customers – particularly busy parents – are shopping on-the-go using our mobile app and embracing advances in technology, using AR to showcase our products is a natural evolution,” said Matt Grabham, who is the digital product manager at Argos.
This AR view will allow the buyer to see the fully built LEGO model from their own homes before they make a purchase.
Nichola Cox, the retail eCommerce manager for the Lego Group explains, “Our AR execution not only embraces Argos’s digital vision but helps inspire and develop the Lego builders of tomorrow making it a formidable collection.”
